Maybe I’m the only one but…
I think FemShep and DudeShep should each have their own separate romances in ME3.
Now, before I/anyone goes off, I would like to say that I know the LI’s aren’t engraved in stone just yet; I’m simply stating my opinion about the matter.
I, personally, play dudeshep to romance Tali, Miranda, etc and form friendships with people like Kaidan, Garrus, and so forth. I’m not homophobic, I just think “What’s the point of letting us choose our gender when they’re going to let us romance whoever we want?” That’s the main thing that puts me off from getting Dragon Age 2. (that and apparently the story is horrid.)
To me, it takes away from the repercussions of choosing a gender. Say I was like most people and played femshep through the entire series; I would never get to romance squadmates like Ashley or Jack, but then it would encourage me even more to make a dudeshep just to see how those romances turn out.
The next point is for consistency; why would I be able to romance Garrus as a dude in ME3 and not in ME2? It just really doesn’t seem that consistent. Just as well, why would Ashley suddenly develop an interest in femshep by the 3rd instalment in the series? Granted, the games are literally years apart when it goes from sequel to sequel, so the characters may have developed a bit in that time, but I digress.
Now, one of the things I SHOULD mention is that I know that Kaidan and Ashley were meant to be for any Shepard to romance in ME1, then they cut it out. I have no problem with that as, personally, I don’t really favour any of the LI’s in ME1.
Finally, and probably my most unpopular opinion, is that I don’t want Garrus or Tali to be able to be romanced by both genders. In my eyes, Garrus is like a bro/protege to Dudeshep, while Tali is like a little sister/protege to Femshep; however, I’ll stop this point here as people like to argue about who is what. Garrus never expressed interest in dudeshep, just as Tali never expressed interest in femshep; in addition, Femshep never showed an interest in Tali, and dudeshep never showed an interest in Garrus. People can argue all they want, but to my knowledge Bioware hasn’t released anything regarding femshep to have been able to romance Tali in ME2; same goes for Garrus and dudeshep.
To reiterate, I think they should keep gender-exclusive romances; I suppose I wouldn’t have a problem if they threw one or two of dude/femshep only romances into the no-restrictions group, so long as they keep a few of them gender-exclusive.
TL;DR: What’s the point of making us choose a gender if we can romance whoever we want?
alright dingus
if you want to play manshep and romance only ladies, guess what? YOU CAN DO THAT. you can play your shepard as heterosexual and pursue exclusively heterosexual romance. you would be able to do that even if same sex options were offered for other people. it would be in absolutely no way impeding your game experience. instead, it would just offer the people like me who want those romances the equal opportunity to play out the ones i want to see.
so lemme ask you this, what the hell makes you more entitled to a game experience you like than i am to a game experience i like? we’re both fans of the series, we’re both buying a game, but they should cater to you instead of me? something in this smells a little like entitlement.
also lmao @ WHAT IS THE POINT?? oh the point is that some queer people would prefer to play a queer romance where the characters are the same gender, WHO KNEW
yes, you are ~the only one~. let me get your medal!!!
